Clinical responsibilities include labor and delivery, postpartum, obstetric triage, antepartum care, normal newborn care, couplet care, preoperative and postoperative care, pain assessment and management, isolation precautions, central line maintenance, sterile vaginal examinations, and intrauterine pressure catheter placement and calibration. Responsibilities include vaginal delivery, cesarean delivery, operating room circulation, adult intravenous starts, blood and blood product administration, epidural and patient-controlled analgesia pumps, insulin therapy, magnesium sulfate therapy, and care of high-risk antepartum and labor patients.
