The MLT utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day Laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related duties.• Under the direction of the Lab Manager, the Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties including waived, moderate and highly complex testing. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related continuing education.Education/Licensure:• Associate's degree in MLT or laboratory science from an accredited two-year college or technical school required or Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in clinical science or satisfactory grade in HHS exam and 6 years working experience as a MLT required. MLT-ASCP board certified or NCA certified preferred. BLS certified or must be obtained within 1 week of hire.• Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) and DOT Drug Testing certified or able to obtain within one year from date of hire. Department of Transportation Specimen Collection Certificate preferred or able to obtain within one year from date of hire. Valid driver's license required.The pay range for a Medical Laboratory Technician is $28.80 - $44.64 per hour and Medical Laboratory Scientist is $32.36 - $50.16 per hour. Must also qualify to perform duties delegated by the CLIA Laboratory Director. Perform other related duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required. Bachelor's degree preferred (*exception stated on next line). *If working in Iowa or Bismarck, North Dakota, a Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Two years of laboratory related experience required. Possess a national laboratory certification or laboratory specialty certification, for example: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Histology Technician (HT), etc. through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible and obtain certification within 12 months of hire into position. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. ND license regulations are not applicable for cytology or histology laboratories.
