Licensure by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with full licensure received before expiration of limited/ provisional permit, requiredLimited and/or Provisional Permit is granted to individuals that meet the educational requirements for licensure except for the licensing examination which must be taken within two years from the issuance of a limited permit. A Clinical Laboratory Technologist provides prompt and accurate laboratory test results and/or prepares products for transfusion in support of patient care, including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance, which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, as determined by the department.
