Unit Specifics: Number of Beds: 8 Patient Ratios: 2:1 Unit staffing description: Mixed patient population, open ICU, goal staffing 4 RNs 24/7 Type of equipment: GE B650 cardiac monitors, vents, Gaymar cooling Documentation system: Meditech Scheduling requirements: Self-scheduling encouraged, EOW, OT ok if available, flexible scheduling Floating policy: ICU may float to critical care or intermediate care areas when needed Patient Experience requirements: AIDET validation during orientation, unit is focused on Nurse Communication (nurses listen carefully and nurse explain things in a way patients can understand), white board use, hourly rounding, bedside care conference/hand off Procedures performed on unit: Ventilator care, Therapeutic Hypothermia, PCI/STEMI, IABP, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, TEE/cardioversion, temp pacer, Sepsis, Stroke/TPA, DKA.
