Ability to: _ Follow written and oral instructions and observe department policies and procedures; _ Operate, maintain and perform minor repairs to powered custodial equipment including, but not limited to, vacuums, strippers, waxers, buffers, shampoo cleaners, extractors, and power washers; _ Operate hand cleaning equipment including, but not limited to, brooms, dust and wet mops, dust pans, and dusters; _ Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs to snow removal equipment; _ Operate hand and power tools; _ Operate a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties; _ Communicate effectively with the public and other employees. _ Assists in monitoring custodial work to ensure it is performed safely and properly; ensures school facilities are kept clean and ready for use; _ Cleans and maintains custodial equipment; _ Check boilers, cleans vents as needed; _ Maintains grounds, mows lawns, ensures sprinklers are working properly, snow removal from walks and litter removal; _ Maintains sufficient inventory of cleaning supplies; _ Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safety practices.
