Key Responsibilities Provide daily care and enrichment for routine and specialized laboratory animal colonies Handle and restrain small and large laboratory animals in accordance with established procedures Observe animals and report any abnormal findings or health concerns Follow veterinary directives and monitor animal room conditions Clean, sanitize, and prepare cages and equipment for use Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal facilities and work areas Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and standing for extended periods Support facility operations, including scheduled weekend and holiday work Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an animal research facility or veterinary practice No known allergies to animals Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and extended periods of standing Ability to follow protocols and maintain attention to detail in a regulated environment Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Preferred Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field Experience working in laboratory animal care environments Familiarity with animal handling and facility maintenance procedures Certifications (If Any) AALAS certification is highly desirable Education: Bachelors Degree Certification: AALAS This role involves ensuring proper animal welfare, maintaining clean and compliant environments, and supporting routine and specialized animal colonies in accordance with established protocols and veterinary guidance.
