Define, organize, and manage the design office activities of W&B programs in development/service, including: • CAD design, sizing, calculations, and analyzing mechanical, dynamic, and thermal calculations (using the Finite Element method) • Ensure the technical and organizational follow-through of the program with support of designers, stress engineers, test lab, thermal and dynamic engineers • Ensure the interface with the internal interlocutors (test laboratory, program manager, program chief engineer, industrial management, quality, after-sales) and external (Airframers (Boeing, Airbus…), Airlines, partners and suppliers) • Define, organize, and manage the subcontracting activities with service providers/experts when required • Participate in research & technology studies and projects • Contribute to the continued advancement of the programs used and the overall Design Engineer role • Be willing to make occasional trips within our production sites, suppliers, partners, customers, airlines, and aircraft manufacturers; in the US, France, and abroad • Perform other related duties as required. • Masters degrees related to the mechanics of solids • Experience in a successful technical project in aeronautics: +5 years preferred • Demonstrated significant skills in mechanical design, static & fatigue analysis, behaviors of metallic materials, CAD, DFMEA, design to cost, and design for manufacturing • CAD software: Experience with design tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent • Technical documentation: Skills in drafting reports and justification documents to meet certification requirements • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (forged, cast, machined, heat-treated components) • Skills in dynamic/vibration analysis of mechanical equipment as well as in thermal analysis are valued.
