The ER RN demonstrates strong clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking abilities, excellent communication under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.Essential Work Functions:<ul><li>Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition </li><li>Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families </li><li>Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved emergency nursing techniques and protocols </li><li>Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations </li><li>Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department, responding to immediate needs </li><li>Observe and document patient conditions as required within scope of practice </li><li>Take and monitor vital signs using clinical judgment to address deviations and prevent complications </li><li>Respond to life-saving situations based upon emergency nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols </li><li>Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR) </li><li>Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs, considering the acute nature of emergency care </li><li>Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice </li><li>Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards</li></ul>Required Essential Skills:<ul><li>Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills </li><li>The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language </li><li>Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills </li><li>Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend </li><li>Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism </li><li>Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment </li><li>Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
