Explains abnormal lab result findings to patients including, the nature of the abnormal findings, the implications of the findings, the possible consequences of not receiving additional diagnosis and/or treatment, an explanation of management options and provision of appropriate referral sources, as indicated, informing client that it is their responsibility to obtain follow-up care. The RN/Centralized Follow-up role is a member of the healthcare team and is expected to keep a current base of knowledge on abortion, contraception, STIs, surgical nursing support, nursing best practices, and current trends in sexual and reproductive healthcare and to participate in PPSE’s after-hours call rotation.
