Summary: Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse delivers efficient and effective nursing care while achieving positive clinical outcomes and patient/family satisfaction.

Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital signs machine, Hoyer lift with weight scale, Abbott glucometer, computers on wheels, TR band, and Baxter IV pumps. Common diagnoses/treatments include CHF, CP, ARF, COPD, uncontrolled diabetes, CKD, and post-cardiac cath care.
Duties include ensuring that appropriate care and services are available to patients and families, ensures adequate and appropriate clinic staffing on each shift, supervision of nursing staff, medical support staff and utility aide staff, assistance with annual performance reviews of staff, participation in quality improvement initiatives to address identified patient safety or quality of care issues. Provides and facilitates an environment conducive to staff continuing education needs, ongoing unit-based educational needs and orientation of staff members.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; or Formal education/training may be substituted for individuals with 3+ years of prior experience as a surgical tech. In conjunction with Manager, prepares clinical staff time schedules, ensuring adequate staffing of the unit and provides assistance in covering staff absences. Ensures that care/service delivered to each patient is appropriate and in accordance with Physician orders, departmental policies, and with full consideration of patient safety needs.
