Provides nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol including administering medication, evaluating side effects and the overall effectiveness of medications, maintaining health care equipment and supplies, tracking drugs and instruments, performing basic life support, CPR, and participating in emergency response settings. This class differs from Registered Nurse 3 in that an incumbent of the latter has clinical responsibility for one or more nursing units; may coordinate statewide programs, act as a subject matter expert, function as a Charge Nurse or Floor Supervisor, and/or may have supervisory responsibility.
