<b>Description:</b><p><strong>ESL Instructor</strong> (part-time, paid a daily rate)</p><p>The E.S.L Instructor will be responsible for delivering the contracted ESL classes and monitoring and assuring the progress of enrollees toward achieving the Program Performance targets and milestones. </p><p><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Research and develop new resources and materials to enhance the teaching curricula.</li><li>Provide Intake, Assessment and Orientation for each enrollee.</li><li>Provide class instruction in ESL. </li><li>Administer BEST PLUS tests at intake and regularly thereafter to monitor and document enrollee progress.</li><li>Maintain Milestone performance files for each enrollee.</li><li>Maintain enrollee attendance. Follow-up with enrollees as needed to ensure their continued participation. Maintain office hours.</li><li>Design, implement and recommend individualized curriculum needs for students.</li><li>Meet with students individually each cycle to review progress and need for additional help.</li><li>Prepare and submit monthly reports on the enrollees and the classes.</li><li>Prepare and submit Lesson Plans weekly to the Project Director.</li><li>Identify program and /or student needs to the Project Director. </li><li>Participate in required hours of DYCD Professional development and agency corporate compliance trainings.</li></ul><p><strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p><p>Bachelor’s degree of Arts; with at least 2 years’ experience in adult education learning practices and standards and at least two (2) years of successful experience within the past five (5) years in providing adult literacy services to low-income adults; OR an ESOL teacher training certificate and at least three (3) years of successful experience within the past five (5) years in providing adult literacy services to low-income adults.</p><p><strong>SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</strong></p><ul><li>BA or ESOL Teacher training Certificate with above experience.</li><li>Must be Best Plus Certified</li><li>Experience teaching ESL to adults in a community-based environment & 2 years of experience in providing adult literacy to low-income adults.</li><li>Excellent communication skills.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills.</li><li>Computer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages, local area networks, and the Internet.</li></ul><p><strong>SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
