The primary function of an EPOC is to provide environmental compliance guidance and consultation to the various construction projects implemented by several NASA KSC organizations including NASA Construction of Facilities (CoF), NASA Local Authority Institutional Projects, and the NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) program.
Such programs may include hazardous and regulated waste management, chemical/fuel storage systems, erosion and stormwater management, Environmental Resource permitting review, NPDES permitting, construction site management, water quality management, design review and permitting of swimming pools, water features and attractions. + Landfill Management – Responsible for the Bay Lake Landfill permitting, operations plan, NPDES Multi-Sector General Permitting, waste recordkeeping and reporting, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and stormwater sampling and reporting, life expectancy evaluations, and annual financial responsibility surety bond acquisition.
