Emergency nurses provide a multitude of care; ranging from foley insertions, assistance with chest tube and central line insertions, cardiac arrests, blood transfusions, medication administration, splinting of orthopedic problems, laceration repair, prep for the operating room, STEMI (MI) care, therapeutic hypothermia, and intravenous insertion; to name a few. Registered Nurses are accountable for planning, delivering, coordinating, evaluating, and modifying the patient's care for that defined period of time and for effectively transitioning that plan of care with attention to continuity across shift and settings of care.
