Systems Support Specialist

Such assistance and resolution are provided for personal computers, servers and Local Area Networks (LANs). Job Duties and Responsibilities:  <ul><li>Provide support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals</li><li>Perform technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages</li><li>Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, and other application software programs</li><li>Troubleshoot computer problems, perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate needed repairs, resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participate in the evaluation of system configuration and software</li><li>Provide help desk functions via email, phone, or in person</li></ul>Necessary Skills and Knowledge:<ul><li>Excellent oral and written communications skills required</li><li>Pleasant telephone manner</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>Possess at least 3 years of experience providing direct end-user support for the applications being supported, including both telephone support and on-site assistance to users, including applications that may require certification by the software provider </li><li>Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications</li><li>Possess hands-on familiarity with the network, telecommunications, and operating systems environment of the applications being supported</li><li>Proven track record of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced setting.</li><li>Possess expert-level knowledge of Government’s word processing, spreadsheet, and email systems</li><li>Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance</li><li>Possess sole United States citizenship</li><li>Possess the ability to work onsite in McAllen, Texas</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Possess a Bachelor's degree</li><li>Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications, preferably database, imaging, or other automated litigation support applications </li><li>Prior experience in automated litigation support preferred</li><li>Experience with DOJ office automation environments extremely helpful</li></ul>NOTE: This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities or qualifications associated with the job.
