The incumbent will carry out psychiatric examinations and assessments, make diagnoses, write physician's orders, determine the need for and carry out consultations with external psychiatric personnel, educate patients individually, participate with other clinical staff on the treatment team, respond to psychiatric emergencies, carry out discharge planning and post discharge referral, carry out quality improvement activities, may supervise a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry, Assist facility when MD is not available and other job-related tasks as assigned. HELPS: For permanent, non-competitive appointment under the Civil Service Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (HELPS) the candidate must possess a License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry by the ABPN.
