Work may include evaluation for hospital admission and development of the preliminary treatment plan; initial psychiatric assessment, including medical and psychiatric history, history of medications, physical examination, review of systems, evaluation of mental, emotional behavioral and social status; physical examinations as indicated by clinical condition or by hospital policy; treatment of medical and psychiatric problems including pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other treatment modalities. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
