At the advanced level, a VTS in Anesthesia & Analgesia brings additional expertise in physiology, anesthetic management, and complex disease processes, using clinical knowledge and experience to anticipate and address anesthetic complications, advise and mentor team members, and provide an elevated level of anesthesia support while recognizing professional scope and collaborating closely with the attending veterinarian. This role is responsible for preparing patients for anesthesia and surgery, calculating and preparing medications, developing anesthesia records, safely inducing and monitoring patients under anesthesia, assisting surgeons throughout procedures, providing post-operative care and recovery support, and ensuring patients are safely transferred to the appropriate service following surgery.
