DEFINITION: Under direction, performs all general sheet metal work involved in the layout, construction, maintenance, and erection of sheet metal structures and equipment; works with various machine and hand tools common to the sheet metal trade; may prepare or work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications in accordance with accepted trade practices; takes the lead over and gives suitable assignments to those assigned as helpers; does related work as required. Wide knowledge of the problems involved in inspecting, repairing, constructing, and maintaining copper leaders and gutters, tin roofs and gutters and slate and other roofs, including the operations of flashing, papering, cutting, and punching prior to the installation of slate and other types of roofing work.
