Common diagnoses and cases include strokes (stroke unit, some acute, but not thrombectomies), hypertension, COPD, cellulitis, CHF, atrial fibrillation without RVR, chest pain, MI after ICU, altered mental status/behavioral cases, some telemetry, and surgical overflow (no joint or craniotomy cases; otherwise, everything else). Floating Requirements: The clinician is first to float and will float to other Med-Surg units; if floated to Tele, a Tele RN will handle the strips; ER holds may occur occasionally; mother-baby assignments are not included.
