Unit Details: The unit's case mix includes surgical care, including abdominal surgeries, trauma, and Whipple procedures; long-term low-acuity patients awaiting placement or receiving long-term antibiotic therapy; general medical cases, both chronic and acute; short-stay, cardiac, and COVID patients; neuro patients; and orthopedic and spine patients. The ER Transition Unit includes ERT, a transition area in the emergency room with no specific patient restrictions and its own telemetry monitoring; CDU, a rapid cardiac decision unit with its own telemetry monitoring; and MSW, a med-surg transition area with curtained areas, some infection-prevention exclusion criteria, and mostly general med-tele patients.
