Perfusionist - FT - North Region Thomas Jefferson UniversityPerfusionist - FT - North RegionPhiladelphia, PAp>The primary function of the Staff Perfusionist is the safe operation and management of extracorporeal circulation equipment (heart/lung machine, veno-venous bypass, ventricular assist devices, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation) during any medical or surgical procedure where it is necessary to support or replace the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function (open-heart surgery, liver transplantation, etc.). In addition, the Staff Perfusionist is responsible for the set-up, delivery, management, maintenance, and operation of other relevant ancillary services, devices, and equipment (i.e intra-aortic balloon pumps, autologous blood recovery systems, ventricular assist devices (VAD), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), point of care (POC) laboratory testing equipment).
