This is achieved through a statewide strategy for biosecurity, survey and detection, pollinator protection, development of certification programs to ensure the export and inter-island shipment of bees are free of bee pests and diseases, fostering the development of apiary related programs, outreach and education, conducting targeted research, which may require collaborating with outside expertise. Participating employees may increase their take-home pay by having the State deduct qualified transportation expenses (i.e. eligible parking fees, monthly bus passes for TheBus, fare coupons for The Handi-Van, Vanpool Hawaii participation fee, etc.) through pre-tax payroll deductions.
