Synthesize and interpret history, physical examination and diagnostic testing data; develop a diagnosis, initiate treatment and health maintenance plan; select and order appropriate diagnostic and health maintenance procedures; refer patients to collaborating physicians, specialists and/or appropriate community services or agencies; prescribe medication, perform minor procedures and coordinate treatment for occupational injuries and illnesses. Provide health education, instruction, guidance and advisement to patients regarding medication and treatment; counsel patients and family members; recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs; serve as a resource regarding occupational health, injury prevention and return-to-work planning.
