The provider will also initiate consultations and referrals to specialists and subspecialists as clinically appropriate, evaluate patient responses to disease processes and treatment interventions, and provide patients and families with education and support regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and procedures. Responsibilities include performing and documenting comprehensive health histories and physical examinations; formulating diagnoses and identifying health risks; ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests and X-rays; and prescribing medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia regulations and organizational policies.
