Depending on the care plan and caregiver training, responsibilities may include: Assisting with walking and balance Supporting wheelchair mobility Assisting with bed mobility and repositioning Helping clients move between the bed, wheelchair, chair, commode or toilet Using an approved gait belt when directed Assisting with sit-to-stand or stand-to-sit transfers Using a mechanical or Hoyer lift only after required training and authorization Following all one-person or two-person transfer requirements Requesting assistance when a transfer cannot be completed safely Caregivers must never attempt an unsafe transfer or use equipment they have not been trained and authorized to operate.
