Selects appropriate collet, chuck, and/or fixtures, steady rest as prescribed on process sheet, sets piece in machine or with aid of floor operated overhead crane or hoist; inserts appropriate cutting tools in their proper stations in turret and cross slide tool posts, turret, tool changer, as prescribed on process sheet and operates machine, and adjusts flow of control; observes operations closely, checks dimensions, and adjusts as needed. Receives work assignment; secures drawing, reads and interprets process drawing for sequence of operations, tools, type of set up, fixture, load programs, monitors and qualifies machining requirements such as feeds, speeds, dimensions, tolerances, etc.
