Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of surveying and drafting; Thorough knowledge of basic construction design, methods, materials and techniques; Good knowledge of construction and/or civil, or traffic engineering principles, practices and procedures with thorough knowledge of the particular principles, practices and procedures in the areas of assignment, including appropriate inspection and evaluation techniques of the specialty; Good knowledge of engineering and business mathematics, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry; Good knowledge of the principles and legal terminology of real estate acquisition and of City ordinances and regulations related to land improvements; Skill in the accurate use of surveying and drafting instruments; Ability to make complex and difficult field and office engineering computations; Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and to understand and follow specifications; Ability to communicate well with supervisory personnel, property owners, contractors, subcontractors and others; Ability to prepare accurate and reliable reports containing technical data, findings and conclusions; Ability to operate a Unix work station computer for GIS applications and personal computers and computer-aided drafting and surveying applications appropriate to assigned duties; Ability to use logical thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and oral instructions; Ability to perform a wide variety of difficult technical tasks with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines; Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information; Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
