Responsibilities include administering anesthetics and sedation, evaluating patients preoperatively to determine anesthetic risk and appropriate anesthetic plans, monitoring patients throughout procedures and recovery, managing acute and chronic pain, providing airway management and life support during emergencies, and collaborating with surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. The Program Director will collaborate closely with the Department Chair, Designated Institutional Official (DIO), Graduate Medical Education Office, faculty, and institutional leadership to develop curriculum, recruit faculty and residents, establish educational infrastructure, and guide the residency program through the ACGME accreditation process while maintaining an active clinical anesthesiology practice.
