Skills required: RN: Be able to do a take down and physical restraint on an agitated patient if necessary – forms of restraint include: Time out/seclusion rooms, restraint rooms, holding patient down to administer shot, the facility has but is not currently using a restraint chair; verbal de-escalation, group didactic skills, good communication skills; Team Nursing approach – RN will administer their own meds (injectable and PO) pass meds, evaluate care plans and note progress and documentation, admission screens, Assessments, minor wound care, EKGS (we train), glucometer, take telephone or verbal orders, acknowledge orders, vital signs, the Columbia suicide risk screen, end of shift report, log in patient belongings, screenings and discharge planning, patient safety rounds after 15 minutes. Weekend rotation: every other weekend; 12 hours on the weekend and also could be a combo on Fri, Sat or Sun; Combo shifts are 2 12’s and 2 8’s in a week; 8 hr Days: 0800-1600.
