Ability to remain calm in emergency situations; ability to pay attention to detail, cooperate with others, maintain composure, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations; ability to accurately enter information into computer system; ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with high energy callers, other public safety agency dispatchers, co-workers, County employees and the general public. Under direct supervision, is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency telephone calls; routes calls to public safety dispatchers or fire dispatchers; operates telecommunication equipment such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, County Integrated Justice System (CIJS), Records Management System (RMS), Computer Telephony 9-1-1 and Mapping System, and hearing impaired teletype; enters subject matter into computer; responds to requests for information; completes various clerical tasks; and performs related duties as required.
