This role is central to how we source, manage, and optimize the critical components that power our remanufacturing operations — and we need someone who knows hydraulics, not just purchasing.About the RoleThe Director of Purchasing will own category strategy and supplier relationships for hydraulic and fluid-power components used across heavy-duty industrial and mobile equipment applications. You'll work closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure we're sourcing the right components at the right cost, from suppliers we trust.What You'll OwnSourcing Strategy Develop and execute category strategies for hydraulic components — pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hoses, manifolds, and hydraulic power units — aligned with our operational and quality standards.Supplier Management Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM-tier and specialty hydraulic manufacturers. Lead negotiations that drive competitive pricing, reliable lead times, and supply continuity.Cost & Risk Identify savings opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, and value engineering. Stay ahead of market shifts in pricing, materials, and technology.Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on specs, performance requirements, and component qualification. Make sure what we source performs in the field.Process & Systems Leverage ERP tools to track supplier performance and category KPIs. Continuously improve how we qualify and manage high-precision hydraulic components.What You Bring<ul><li>10+ years of procurement experience in heavy industrial, off-highway, mobile equipment, construction, or agricultural machinery environments</li><li>Hands-on sourcing experience with hydraulic components — pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hoses, manifolds, filtration systems, and HPUs</li><li>Strong understanding of hydraulic systems in heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, skid steers, forestry, and mining equipment)</li><li>Established relationships with hydraulic OEMs and tier suppliers</li><li>Ability to read hydraulic schematics and evaluate pressure/flow specifications</li><li>Proven track record in supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and category ownership</li></ul>

As a Buyer, you’ll be on the road daily in a company transit van, visiting retailers, identifying promotional opportunities, building vendor relationships, and making bulk purchasing decisions. This role requires flexibility, as sourcing opportunities and store availability may occasionally require early starts, late finishes, or adjusted routes. You’ll represent Lifestyle Outfitters professionally while managing a company credit card and operating within defined spend and sourcing guidelines. You’ll also use technology and product research tools to analyze data and make informed decisions on what to buy, when to buy, and how much to buy. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being in the field, moving fast, and taking ownership of results.
