p>TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Schedules radiographic examinations;
Ensures proper identification of patients using two (2) patient identifications;
Prepares and cleans the exam area before and after each patient;
Transfers patients to and from tables using assistive devices (Hoyer, Sit to stand, hover mat and slide boards);
Prepares and positions patients for radiography;
Selects and sets up exposure factors of imaging equipment;
Administers ionizing radiation to obtain quality imaging for diagnostic purposes;
Identifies and reports to supervisor any concerns involving equipment or environment;
Obtains accurate and quality clinical information to ensure proper billing of procedure;
Observes and records patients condition and reports significant information to physician or nurse;
Trains technologists and students;
Ensures the radiation safety of everyone associated with the study by practicing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) radiation doses;
Attends in-service and other training courses to remain current in the field;
Requisitions and stores supplies and materials;
Transports patients to and from imaging areas when necessary;
Assists physicians when necessary;
May perform quality assurance of equipment and lead integrity;
May participate in departmental and/or hospital committees.
