Skills required include IV pump and insertion/central, PICC and midline catheter care, tube feeding pump, GI/PEG/NG tube management and insertion, wound vac/wound care, indwelling catheter insertion and care, trach care and suctioning, laryngectomy care, drain care, and management of behavioral issues. Unit supported by a charge nurse (may carry patient assignment), Health Unit Coordinator (0600-2230), and 24/7 hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy coverage.
