Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working on or around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery. Key responsibilities may include: Inspecting railcar frames, bodies, safety appliances (hand holds, sill steps, running boards, etc.), and wheels (rim treads, plates, hub axles and bearing) for holes, cracks, and other defects to ensure good repair of equipment.
