Certifications include: New York State RN License, Primary Source Verification of License and Registration of Registered Professional Nurse from NYS Department of Education (NYSED), AHA BLS, and current certification in one of the following: Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN), Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON), Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), or Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC). Additional responsibilities include assessing and documenting patient responses to treatments, evaluating staff performance, developing and providing staff education, initiating pressure injury prevention measures, collaborating with the healthcare team, participating in quality improvement activities, and referring patients to community resources.
