We are currently seeking a Transportation/Highway Construction Inspector to help serve our connection of clients and community. If you’re hungry for knowledge, ready to make a difference and dedicated to providing personalized attention to our clients, we want you on our team. <br/><br/>This role will cover multiple areas in Southeastern Missouri, including: Cape Giraurdo, Sikeston, Jackson and surrounding areas.</div><br/><h3>Your Primary Responsibilities will include</h3><br/><ul><li>Perform on-site inspection of construction projects including highways, bridges, and roadways to ensure compliance with project specifications, DOT standards, and safety regulations.</li><li>Review construction plans, shop drawings, and materials to verify conformance with approved designs and applicable codes.</li><li>Document construction activities daily through detailed reports, photographs, and field notes.</li><li>Conduct material sampling and testing (asphalt, concrete, soils, aggregates) according to DOT procedures.</li><li>Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and schedule requirements.</li><li>Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to resolve field issues efficiently.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used, and any non-compliance issues.</li><li>Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings to communicate inspection findings and recommendations.</li><li>Identify, document, and report discrepancies or deficiencies to the project engineer or manager promptly.</li><li>Stay current with DOT construction standards, specifications, and procedures.</li></ul><div><br/></div><br/><h3>What you'll need</h3><br/><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.</li><li>Experience in transportation or civil construction inspection (preferred 1–5 years, depending on position level).</li><li>Familiarity with DOT construction standards, specifications, and inspection procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of materials testing procedures for asphalt, concrete, soils, and aggregates.</li><li>Strong understanding of construction safety standards and field inspection protocols.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with inspection software or databases.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise inspection reports.</li><li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a field environment.</li></ul><div><br/></div><br/><h3>Gonzalez Offers Competitive Benefits including:</h3><br/><ul><li>Competitive salary</li><li>Major medical, dental and vision insurance</li><li>Flexible Spending Account</li><li>Health Savings Account</li><li>401K</li><li>Bonus program</li><li>Paid holidays and generous paid time off</li><li>Professional development</li><li>A team of creative and talented individuals to work alongside</li></ul><div>Gonzalez is a rapidly growing, dynamic, professional services firm specializing in civil engineering, construction management, and construction inspection.
