Qualifications: Knowledge & Competencies (Skills & Abilities): Experience in fire safety and risk identification. Environmental experience, highly preferred. Associates degree in industrial safety/health/hygiene and/or a minimum of (2-3) years of professional plant level experience in the planning, development, and implementation of Health & Safety management systems and compliance programs. Professional safety certifications highly desirable. Significant problem solving situations involve investigation and resolution of employee complaints, root cause analysis of incidents, and recommendations for improvement. Must have excellent organizational and cross functional skills, as well as oral and written communication skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Must be self-motivated, and be able to make independent, informed and prioritized decisions. Must be able to work in both individual and team industrial work settings with minimal supervision. Plant environment is not climate controlled. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Experience within construction is preferred.   Responsibilities: Nature & Scope of Position: Safety specialist to oversee safety compliance, conduct daily inspections, coordinate safety meetings, and ensure adherence to CertainTeeds safety protocols. The Safety specialist will maintain daily logs, document safety observations, and report directly to the plant Safety Manager.
