YearCompensation is based on degrees, certificates and experience.What Youll Do:<ul><li>Lead and champion all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives for the facility, fostering a culture where safety is a core value and shared responsibility.</li><li>Partner closely with plant leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and company EHS requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.</li><li>Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS programs, policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</li><li>Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence and improve workplace safety.</li><li>Lead and coordinate safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities throughout the facility.</li><li>Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and new hires.</li><li>Support onboarding efforts by ensuring all employees receive thorough safety orientation and training prior to beginning work.</li><li>Utilize EHS performance metrics, observations, and trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and drive actionable results.</li><li>Partner with operations leaders to integrate Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies into safety and environmental programs.</li><li>Manage workers compensation, return-to-work processes, and injury case management in partnership with Human Resources.</li><li>Maintain all required environmental, health, and safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.</li><li>Act as a trusted resource and coach to leaders and employees by promoting accountability, engagement, and ownership of safety initiatives.</li><li>Build strong relationships across departments to influence positive change and continuously improve the sites safety culture.</li></ul>How Youll Do It:<ul><li>Build strong relationships and credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.</li><li>Lead by influence, fostering a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and accountability.</li><li>Utilize data, trends, and key performance indicators to identify risks, prioritize initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.</li><li>Partner with operations, maintenance, and human resources teams to integrate safety into daily business practices.</li><li>Effectively communicate EHS expectations, regulatory requirements, and best practices across the facility.</li><li>Develop and deliver impactful training programs that increase employee knowledge, engagement, and compliance.</li><li>Drive change by identifying opportunities for improvement and leading initiatives that enhance safety, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness.</li><li>Apply Lean principles and structured problem-solving techniques to eliminate hazards, reduce risk, and improve processes.</li><li>Conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.</li><li>Balance strategic planning with hands-on support by maintaining a visible presence on the production floor.</li><li>Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.</li><li>Leverage technology and EHS management systems to track compliance activities, analyze performance, and support informed decision-making.</li></ul>What Youll Bring:<ul><li>5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.</li><li>Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</li><li>Proven ability to conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, hazard assessments, and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Experience leading safety training programs, onboarding new employees, and reinforcing a culture of safety throughout the organization.</li><li>Ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.</li><li>Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, problem-solving tools, and continuous improvement methodologies.</li><li>Strong partnership skills with operations, maintenance, human resources, and plant leadership teams.</li><li>Experience analyzing data, tracking key performance indicators, and using metrics to drive decision-making and improve safety performance.</li><li>Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and experience utilizing EHS management systems and reporting tools.</li><li>Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience is preferred but not require</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in occupational Additionally, our preconstruction services include risk assessments, budget validation, 3D modeling, and more, ensuring that we meet and exceed our clients expectations every step of the way.Job Description:The Safety Specialist is responsible for providing field support services and assisting managers, supervisors and team members with the implementation of specific Company and Client Safety and Health policies and procedures. Regulatory compliance, and continual improvement of the overall performance of the Company in a manner that is consistent with the Company's Core Values.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Assist in developing and implementing strategies for reducing and eliminating injuries, illness and other incidents in a manner that effectively ensures the attainment of business unit targets and objectives.
• Provide training and education to Company personnel regarding safety and health requirements.
• Support pre-job safety planning meetings to plan for potential hazards and problems prior to start of job, and develop emergency response plans for projects.
• Develop work safety and health plans on time in a fast-paced environment.
• Initiate, coordinate and lead safety meetings and training programs to ensure the effective communication of company policy and procedures.
• Independently initiate, perform and document safety and health audits, evaluations, inspections and/or behavioral observations throughout the Company's operations and communicate and facilitate the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
• Assist in the investigation of injury, illness and general liability incidents.
• Develop and issue regular safety and health correspondence.
• Provide updated information to team members regarding updates to company or regulatory requirement changes.
• Self-identify team members that need assistance, training, or support meeting the Company safety and health requirements.
• Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, vendors and third-party personnel to ensure adherence to Company safety policies and procedures.
• Serve as a point of contact for any federal, state or municipal safety or risk management authority and/or personnel, including but not limited to OSHA, when the Company Safety Manager is not available.Education and Experience:Bachelor degree in Safety and Health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience. Targeting 5+ years of experience with safety and health in the construction industry is preferred, with experience in the aforementioned project types a strong plus.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations as well as other state/federal safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interface effectively with company and private client representatives.
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to independently prioritize.
• Ability to think independently, communicate thoroughly and influence the implementation of the appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
• Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends) and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
• Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of our work.
• Ability to positively interact and influence front line supervisors and field personnel to create a safe work environment.Certificates Licenses and Registrations:• Must have valid drivers license, good driving record required.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
