High School Science Teacher   Position Overview The Science Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, and student-centered instruction across four levels of high school science in addition to GED Math and GED Science preparation. This role requires a highly effective educator capable of managing multiple course preparations, differentiating instruction across varied academic levels, and accelerating student learning for both diploma-bound and GED-track students. Instruction should integrate scientific reasoning, applied mathematics, and real-world workforce connections, preparing students for postsecondary success in both college and skilled trades pathways. Will report to and work with the Assistant Principal daily. Key Responsibilities 1. Instruction & Planning Multi-Level Curriculum Delivery •Plan and deliver instruction across:</div><ul><li class="WordSection1">Four levels of high school science (e.g., Integrated Physics & Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc.)</li><li class="WordSection1">GED Science</li><li class="WordSection1">GED Math</li></ul><div class="WordSection1">•Design vertically aligned lessons that build foundational knowledge while advancing higher-level skills •Manage multiple course preps effectively while maintaining instructional quality Curriculum Planning •Developand implement TEKS-aligned science instruction and GED-aligned math/science curriculum •Submit timely, high-quality lesson plans that reflect intentional design and alignment Lesson Design & Structure Deliver structured lessons that include: •Do Now •I Do (Direct Instruction) •WeDo (Guided Practice) •You Do (Independent/Application Practice) •Exit Ticket •Ensure all lessons are aligned to clear, measurable objectives •Prioritizeapplication, analysis, and problem-solving Academic Rigor •Maintain high expectations across all course levels •Incorporate:    oScientific inquiry and experimentation        oData analysis and interpretation    oMathematical reasoning within science contexts Student Engagement •Use hands-on, relevant strategies such as:    oLab-based learning  o Real-world applications tied to trades (construction, welding, manufacturing)  oVisual models and interactive activities •Ensure all students can access content regardless of starting level Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction •Conduct frequent checks for understanding across all course levels •Use:   oGED practice tests   o Internal assessments     oClassroom data toadjust instruction and group students strategically •Differentiate for:   oBelow-grade-level learners     oELLs   oStudents with IEPs 2. Classroom Management Systems & Routines •Maintain consistent classroom structures, including:​​​​​​​  o“What To Do”</div><div class="WordSection1">oDaily Learning Objectives o Agenda oExit Ticket</div> <div class="WordSection4">Behavior & Culture •Establish a structured, respectful, and academically focused environment •Userestorative practices and least invasive interventions Active Monitoring •Continuously monitor engagement and understanding •Provide real-time feedback and redirection Accountability •Hold a high bar for participation and completion •Maintain 100% student accountability 3. GED & Postsecondary Readiness •Prepare students for successful completion of:   oGED Science Exam   oGED Mathematical Reasoning Exam •Build core competencies in:   o Graph and data interpretation   oProblem-solving and quantitative reasoning •Connect instruction to:   oWorkforce applications   oPostsecondary pathways Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree required (Science, STEM, or related field strongly preferred) •Teaching certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 24 months) •Experience teaching multiple preps and/or GED content preferred •Strong ability to differentiate instruction across varied academic levels</div> Core Competencies •Multi-prep instructional planning and execution •Data-driven decision-making •Strong classroom management •Differentiation and intervention •Relationship-building with opportunity youth •Ability to connect academics to real-world applications What Success Looks Like •Students across all levels demonstrate measurable growth in science and math •Increased GED pass rates in Math and Science •Instruction remains rigorous and structured despite multiple course preparations •Classroom culture is orderly, respectful, and academically focused •Students are engaged in hands-on, meaningful learning •Instruction is consistently adjusted based on data Salary: $53,000 Exempt  Powered by JazzHR
