Performs skilled maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance on a diverse fleet of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, equipment, and machinery including bulldozers, refuse haulers, road-graders, front-end loaders, compressors, heavy hydraulic systems, boom trucks, golf cars, fire equipment, and other specialty vehicles and equipment; assists with training and cross-training of other mechanics. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Works independently and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience and training; examines equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots actual and potential problems; repairs, disassembles, rebuilds, and adjusts equipment and components; fabricates and reconditions parts as needed; assures equipment functions meet job specifications and technical codes; duties may vary according to job assignment.
