Job Description: Job Overview TE's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is currently seeking a highly motivated SeniorManufacturing and Process Development Engineer - Fiber Optics to deliver the engineering design, development, and implementation of next generation manufacturing technologies and processes. ManufacturingDevelopment works closely with Product Development and Operations to: <ul><li>Launch new product at world class quality and cost at pace of customer demand. </li><li>Infuse strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure delivery of robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale. </li><li>Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities. </li><li>Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer driven product innovation as needed. </li></ul>The candidate must have prior experience with: <ul><li>Optical manufacturing principles such as single and multi-fiber termination </li><li>Test methods of optical connectors </li><li>Active optical assembly. </li></ul>Additionally, this candidate should have basic knowledge of industry standards surrounding environmental and mechanical performance of optical connectors. Job Requirements Execution of Manufacturing deliverables to the NPD Phase Gate process including: <ul><li>New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies </li><li>DFM/A input into the early stages of product design </li><li>PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans </li><li>Manufacturing capacity analysis </li><li>Value stream mapping </li><li>Assembly tooling and equipment development </li><li>Process qualification via capability studies </li><li>Execution of sample builds including generation of first article inspection reports </li><li>Generation of process specifications </li><li>Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer driven new product innovation. </li><li>Apply a lean manufacturing focus to drive world class cost on new product and fuel plant-level productivity initiatives on fiber optic manufacturing processes. </li><li>Support TE's global operations footprint as a subject matter expert for fiber optic manufacturing processes. </li><li>Liaise with manufacturing facilities to support preliminary cost estimates on new product concepts. </li></ul>What your background should look like<ul><li>A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product. </li><li>Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment. </li><li>Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred. Green or Black Belt certification a plus. </li><li>Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints. </li><li>Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules. </li><li>Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization. </li><li>Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications. </li></ul> Please note: This position may involve working with technical data, technology, software/source code, hardware or other items (collectively "items) subject to U.S. and non-U.S. export control laws and regulations.
