Qualifications and Requirements: Associate degree in Veterinary Technology required; A minimum of five (5) years of experience or more in veterinary technology required; Experience in zoo animal/exotic animal or equine medicine required; Must have and maintain a License as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) required; Must have and maintain a Texas state Veterinary Technician license prior to the start date; Ability to work and train with the Animal Care Director and Director of Veterinary Medicine on euthanasia procedures and protocols required; Must have or be able to obtain and maintain up-to-date rabies prophylaxis and titer and TB testing; Must be skilled in a variety of laboratory testing and techniques; Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); Strong written and verbal communication skills; Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes; Strong interpersonal skills are necessary; Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred. Procures and ships samples, prepares other testing procedures and maintains diagnostic equipment; Conducts anesthesia and anesthetic machinery during immobilizations on a wide variety of animals; Maintains medical records and logs for patient data, radiology, diagnostics, case dispositions, admissions, euthanasia, and controlled substances in accordance with regulations; Oversees medical supply inventory.
