Incumbent will also take an active role in preventing and investigating disease outbreaks; Conduct site and soil evaluations for the purpose of determining suitability for onsite sewage disposal; Evaluate soil and ground water data, write installation permits and conduct inspections of onsite sewage disposal systems for compliance with rules and regulations; Evaluate and provide professional advice on engineered designs of complex sewage disposal systems regarding compliance with rules and regulations; Investigate sewage on the ground complaints, issue notices of violation when needed and obtain compliance to remediate public health concerns; Evaluate engineering reports for the purpose of lifting sanitary restrictions on proposed subdivisions; Inspect assigned food establishments annually along with follow-up inspections and conducting plan reviews for new and remodeled establishments; Conduct epidemiological investigations and complaint investigations of food facilities; Operate and maintain testing equipment and detection devices used during inspections and analyze data from devices; Conduct food safety training as requested by food establishments. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences; OR successful completion of a college level algebra or higher math course and 30 semester/45 quarter hours in the basic sciences, i.e. biology, chemistry, physics, or other physical sciences as well as sanitary engineering or environmental engineering; At least two years of public health experience with an agency to include inspecting facilities and enforcing ordinances, rules, and statutes in at least one of the following programs: food, on-site sewage, day care, swimming pools, nuisance complaints, solid waste, home loan surveys, public drinking water, or vector control.
