Essential FunctionsAssists in planning all aspects of a competitive track and field programDemonstrates a philosophy that emphasizes academics as a top priority for student athletesSupports, evaluates, and monitors the academic performance of student-athletesAssists the head coach in developing strategies to identify, recruit, and retain high caliper student-athletes that will succeed both academically and athletically in the programsCooperates with the athletic training staff and other health care professionals in the care and prevention of injuries and illnessesOperates within a defined budget provided by the head coach effectively according to department and university guidelinesAssists in planning team travel, hotels, meals, equipment purchases, recruiting, and all other expensesPromotes an environment of strong character by establishing and enforcing rules of conduct as well as fostering an environment that leads to academic, athletic, emotional, and social growthServes as ambassador for track and field programs and may engage with alumni, parents, and additional stakeholdersAssist in planning fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with alumniMaintains the inventory of team supplies, equipment, and uniformsMaintains collaborative working relationships with various departments throughout the campus community (i.e., admissions, financial aid, residence life, development, alumni, etc.) Works in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach to develop strength training and conditioning programsPerforms additional duties as assigned by the Head Track and Field Coach Minimum Qualifications.
