Overview: The STEM Learning Assistant (LA) will serve as a formal support to a classroom instructor in a STEM course during the Spring 2026 semester at Oakton. They will be assigned to a Supervising Instructor according to their schedule availability and previous educational history and disciplinary interest. If applicants have already served as Learning Assistants, they may be asked to serve as mentors for new Learning Assistants. If this is the first time the student works in this role, they will receive training by attending 4 leadership training sessions throughout the semester, engaging in 4 mentoring sessions with experienced LAs, taking a Pedagogy Course (EDN 290), which meets weekly on Fridays, 9-10am, and through weekly 1 hour long prep sessions with their supervising instructor.
