GENERAL DESCRIPTION: As a skilled trades Instructor, you will demonstrate-through hands-on training and classroom instruction-proper technique, safety, and detail which are essential skills of polished trades professionals. Strong coaching skills and the determination toteach, inspire and lead future trades professionals are essential, as is a strong orientation to safety in the workplace. Apply by May 29, 2026 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Instruction <ul><li>Instructs program participants in trade skills using approved curriculum </li><li>Develops curriculum and supporting training materials, as needed </li><li>Coordinates hands-on training activities including on-site and community-based projects </li><li>Demonstrates proper use of tools and equipment use, with an emphasis on safety </li></ul>Student Development and Placement <ul><li>Assists with student recruitment, placement, and employability training, as directed and/or as required by program needs </li><li>Monitors, mentors, and coaches students </li><li>Fosters positive working relationships with and between funders, program partners, and other personnel </li><li>Participates in outreach and employer relationship development </li></ul>Classroom Management<ul><li>Performs various administrative and reporting functions, as required </li><li>Ensures proper use, storage, and security of tools, equipment, etc. </li><li>Adherence with all applicable safety protocols (OSHA 10) </li></ul> WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: HBI Executive Team, HBI Board of Trustees, and staff at all levels External: Community channel partners, vendors, contractors and system(s) end users REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to meet Career Technical Training requirements, including a High School Diploma or equivalent and/or any combination of work, education and/or skills equivalent to Journey-level experience in the relevant trade - Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC. Job Description The successful candidate will research, analyze, review, and/or compose deliverables in support of engineering, design, procurement, and/or fabrication/construction projects. Assignments may be discipline-specific or generalist engineering tasks, or a mixture. This seasonal, variable-hour position is located in our Anchorage, Alaska offices. While this position is intended to provide opportunity for learning and discovery, its primary focus is production of engineering deliverables in conformance to the engineering execution plan for each program or project. Responsibilities + Researches and analyzes data such as statements of requirements, proposals, specifications, and manuals. + Supports development of project scopes of work, estimates, and/or schedules. + Develops and reviews project drawings, standards and specifications. + Assists in development of equipment, material, and construction specifications. + Uses computer-assisted software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. + Applies applicable codes, regulations and laws under guidance of responsible engineer. + Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed. + Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems. + Provides technical support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters. + Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, and analyzing and solving problems. + Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and photographs to plan and perform project work. + Assists preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications + Current candidate for Bachelor of Science degree in engineering aftercompletion of the second year and commencement of the third year of an accredited engineering degree program. + A strong desire to learn and produce in a flexible and challenging environment. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, word processing software, and MS Excel spreadsheet software.
