Major Responsibilities and Duties Safely operate bus, follow routes, adhere to established schedules, and observe all traffic laws and safety regulations Instruct students on safe rules and regulations while on board during the ride Proper loading and unloading techniques and of crossing the street Report student discipline and behavior issues to campus administration and transportation Communicate with office staff and/or parents on issues which require immediate attention Attend district training as scheduled and required Document all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures and complete all required reports Keep assigned bus clean and fueled, check for mechanical defects before and after each operation, and report needed repairs to shop Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment such as first aid and body fluid kits, fire extinguisher, reflectors, seatbelts, car seats, etc. Qualifications Acceptable report from criminal history inquiry Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License Class B with "P" and "S" endorsements or training will be provided Acceptable driving record as obtained from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Must pass pre-employment drug test Must pass pre-employment annual State DOT required physical examination Must pass annual FMCSA DOT required drug and alcohol test.
