p> Manage a caseload of students and guide MCC students on academic, transfer, career/workforce, and student development issues, needs, or experiences through ongoing assessment of individualized resources and access-based needs to support the achievement of the students' goals including, but not limited to, executing skill building, ensuring proper program placement, successful enrollment, course completion, retention, graduation, transfer and/or job placement, and triaging student crises. Under the direction of the Director, Academic Advising, the Advising Coordinator is responsible for planning and daily implementation of comprehensive specialized advising services by delivering high-quality support services to include educational/degree planning, course selection and registration, academic support, resource awareness, and retention and success strategies - all in an effort to increase retention, progression, completion, and time-to-degree completion of MCC students.
p>The Retention Coach will help build the retention program from the ground up-developing outreach strategies, coaching practices, tracking systems, and partnerships-while working directly with students to address academic, personal, and institutional barriers to success. The Retention Coach provides proactive, first-year, case-management-based coaching aligned to Guided Pathways and First-Year Experience frameworks, supporting students from entry through successful transition into their academic pathways.
They advise students on university policies and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters; and work closely with other university support teams to ensure that student inquiries are addressed in a timely and effective manner. Advisors build supportive and personalized relationships with students, manage their day-to-day expectations, and provide them with opportunities to stay connected to our online community.
