Perform a variety of skilled duties operating and maintaining electrical power distribution systems and associated equipment with a voltage above 480 volts and below 23,000 volts • Install and maintain transformers, switchgears, and emergency standby generators • Repair and replace underground cables • Clean, test, adjust, repair and replace electrical control equipment such as air and oil circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, cables, generators, synchronous motors and other electrical equipment • Operate, maintain, and monitor a medium voltage substation, utilizing status boards, relays, switches and breakers • Check and interpret substation instrument readings and take corrective action as necessary • Change, connect, disconnect, parallels or affects substitutions for electrical equipment and conductors, using the switchgear mode of operation • Repair, install, replace and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using necessary hand tools and testing instruments • Inspect and test electrical lighting, power circuits and equipment • Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment, using suitable testing instruments • Examine and test elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes • Replace defective equipment parts such as motors, bushings and bearings and other related electrical parts • Renew circuits either by isolating and cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring, or by splicing ends of broken wires • Adhere to applicable safety rules, precautions and procedures while working on "hot" electrical systems including the use of appropriate safety equipment • Operate a lift truck or bucket lift truck to make electrical repairs • Utilize a mobile device for accessing and completing work orders and maintaining workflows • Perform other related work as required.
